    • Social Media in the workplace
    • The most alarming piece of information given by one of the panel members was, "fully 40% of companies surveyed do not have and do not yet plan to publish any internal policies or guidelines" on social media usage within their company. It almost seemed that many leaders (including CIO's) didn't want to be "bothered" by this latest trend --- Social Media --- and maybe, just maybe, think this is a fad that will go away. • Compliance Issues /Social Networking
    • The biggest issue for Social Netwoking technologies like Facebook and Twitter is the inability of those sites to technically support the demand of its functionality. Compliance rules, laws, regulations are easily designed into the user interface. With 3 Billion people in the world, I received a message today that twitter has a technical limit on "Who I can follow" of one thousand users, even though last month that limit was two thousand. The functionality of Social Networking has unlimited possibilities for business productivity and maximiing egalitarian participation. The technical capacity limits currently point toward "Elitism". This is the really big issue !!!!!!!

    • Lack of Social Media Policies
    • Informative article! Accessing social media at work puts a company's network security and privacy at risk, causing problems for its IT department. It is therefore important to have a clear social media policy in place. Decision-makers and IT managers should explore issues surrounding social media in the workplace for them to be able make informed decisions about whether or not to block social media sites, and create a sound social media policy for their companies. Here is a good place to start: http://bit.ly/d2NZRp

    • SM Work Concerns
    • Numerous corporate IT departments are asking themselves whether or not to block social media (Enterprise 2.0) applications like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, etc. What they often don’t realize is that they can safely enable these applications through the use of smart policies. Smart policies can enable businesses to take advantage of the benefits of these powerful platforms, while risky or counterproductive features can be selectively blocked. Palo Alto Networks has put together a great whitepaper to help you understand how this new firewall technology works. It’s called “To Block or Not. Is That the Question?” and you can find it here: http://bit.ly/d2NZRp
